How do I choose a web designer in Kuwait?

Judge them on what you own at the end and what it costs to run, not on how the design looks in the pitch. Almost every bad website story in Kuwait is an ownership or a running-cost story, not a design one.

What should I ask before signing?

  1. Whose name is the domain in? It should be yours, in your own account
  2. What exactly is included? Every page and feature, listed, at a fixed price
  3. What are the yearly costs? Domain, hosting, any apps — in writing
  4. Do I get the logins? All of them, on handover
  5. Who fixes it in six months, and what does that cost?
  6. Can I edit text myself without paying for every change?

What should I check in their past work?

Speed on mobile Open two of their sites on mobile data
Arabic quality Read the Arabic — is it real, or translated stiffly?
Still live Are their older projects still online and updated?

What should the running costs look like?

Small, and knowable. A .com domain is around $10–11 a year at cost from Cloudflare Registrar, a simple site can be hosted free, and Shopify starts at $19 a month paid yearly. If a quote's monthly fee is much larger than that, ask exactly what the extra buys — see what a website costs in Kuwait.

What do most people forget to ask?

Where the visitors will come from. A beautiful site with no traffic earns nothing, and designers aren't usually the people who solve that — see how to get your website on Google and what digital marketing services you actually need.

Quick follow-ups

  • You, in your own name and account, even when someone else builds the site. The domain is the hardest thing to recover later if the relationship ends badly.
