What size should my Instagram ad images and videos be?
Instagram Stories and Reels ads are built for vertical 9:16 video, while Feed ads support a wider range of ratios from 1.91:1 (landscape) to 4:5 (portrait). Meta updates these numbers periodically, so treat this as a starting point and confirm the current spec on Meta's own Ads Guide before a shoot.

Feed — more flexible
Meta's Ads Guide lists Feed as supporting aspect ratios from 1.91:1 (wide/landscape) up to 4:5 (tall/portrait) — there's more room to work with than on Stories or Reels, but check the current Ads Guide for the exact pixel dimensions before finalizing a design, since Meta revises these specs from time to time.
The rule that saves a reshoot: safe zones
On vertical formats, Meta recommends keeping important content — logos, key text, calls to action — out of the top ~14% and bottom ~35% of the frame, since Instagram's own interface (profile name, caption, buttons) sits there and can cover it.
