What do boosted post statuses like 'In review', 'Active' and 'Not delivering' mean?
A boosted post is an ad, so it moves through the same statuses as any Meta ad: In review while Meta checks it, Active while it runs, and Not delivering when it's turned off or has finished. If your post is "currently boosted", the status tells you which stage it's at.

What does each status mean?
| Status | What Meta's help centre says it means |
|---|---|
| In review | Being checked against Meta's advertising standards. Most ads are reviewed within 24 hours |
| Preparing | Passed review; the system is matching it to an audience before the first impressions |
| Active | Running normally |
| Learning | Still in the learning phase; results are less stable |
| Rejected | Doesn't comply with Meta's advertising standards |
| Update required | Something blocks delivery, such as a deleted post or an ended offer |
| Not delivering | Turned off, or finished its scheduled run. Meta notes this is different from a rejection |
| Completed | The end date has passed |
Where do I check my boost's status?
On Instagram, Meta's help centre says to go to your profile, tap Professional dashboard, then Ad tools, where you can see each ad's status, spend and insights. On Facebook, the same statuses appear in the Delivery column of Ads Manager. See how to check if your Facebook ads are running.
Why did my boost go back to In review?
Meta re-reviews an ad when you edit its targeting, image, text, link or optimisation. Changing only the budget or schedule doesn't trigger a new review. If it ends up rejected, see why your ad was rejected.
Is boosting the right tool at all?
If a status keeps blocking you, or you want sales rather than likes, compare Boost Post vs Ads Manager. And if the button itself is missing, see why Boost Post isn't showing.
