How do I change or reset my ad account spending limit on Facebook and Instagram?
Open Payment settings in Meta Ads Manager, go to the Account spending limit section, click Options, then either change the limit or reset the amount spent back to $0. Meta's help centre says either change takes about 15 minutes, and then paused ads start running again.

What is an account spending limit?
It's an optional cap you set on how much your whole ad account can spend across all campaigns. Meta says that when you reach it, your ads pause and the account stops spending. It covers Facebook and Instagram ads alike, because both run from the same ad account.
Change, reset or remove: which one?
| Option | What it does (per Meta's help centre) |
|---|---|
| Change | Sets a new limit. What you've already spent still counts toward it |
| Reset | Puts the amount spent back to $0 and keeps the same limit |
| Remove | Takes the cap off entirely |
You must be an admin of the ad account. On the Facebook app, Meta lists the path as Menu, Ads Manager, Settings, Billing & payments, Account spending limit. If you see an error about too many changes, Meta says to wait about an hour.
Does it reset automatically each month?
Not by default. Meta describes the limit as a lifetime cap, though some accounts may see an option to reset it automatically on the 1st of each month. Accounts set up for prepaid funds can't use an account spending limit at all.
Is this the same as my campaign budget?
No. Your budget controls how fast each campaign spends; the account limit is a safety ceiling above everything. See campaign budget or ad set budget, and if ads are on but spending nothing, read why your ad isn't spending its budget.
