What is Advantage+ audience in Meta ads?
Advantage+ audience is Meta's setting that uses its AI to find the people most likely to respond to your ad, instead of relying only on the age and interests you pick. You set hard limits with audience controls, and you can give hints with audience suggestions.

How does it decide who sees my ad?
According to Meta's Business Help Centre, its AI uses signals such as past conversions, Meta Pixel data and interactions with previous ads, and keeps learning as the campaign runs. That's why a working Pixel matters. See how to install the Meta Pixel.
What's the difference between controls and suggestions?
| Audience controls | Audience suggestions | |
|---|---|---|
| What they are | Hard limits | Soft hints |
| What you set | Locations, minimum age, custom audiences to exclude, languages | Age, gender, detailed targeting, custom audiences to include |
| Can Meta go outside them? | No | Yes, when it's likely to improve performance |
Meta gives an example: if you suggest women, your ads could still reach men if its AI finds them likely to respond. Suggestions never go outside your controls, though.
When should I turn it off?
Meta says it's applied automatically when available. If reaching a specific group matters more than best performance, Meta says you can select "further limit your audience" and set age, gender, detailed targeting or custom audiences as controls instead. Meta also recommends testing it for almost all campaign types except retargeting. Some special ad categories, like housing, employment or financial products, can't use it.
Is it the same as Advantage+ campaigns?
No. Advantage+ audience only automates who sees the ad. For sales, leads and app campaigns, Meta points to its fuller Advantage+ campaigns, which automate more steps. For the custom audiences you can feed in as suggestions, read custom and lookalike audiences.
