What is omnichannel marketing?

Omnichannel marketing means treating every place a customer meets you (Instagram, WhatsApp, your website, your shop) as one connected journey instead of separate channels. The customer sees the same message, the same offer and the same brand wherever they are, and each step picks up where the last one left off.

What does it look like in real life?

A customer in Kuwait sees your reel on Instagram, taps through to your website, checks a product, then leaves. Two days later they see an ad reminding them of that product, message you on WhatsApp, and pick it up from your store. Omnichannel is making sure every one of those steps feels like the same business, with the same prices and the same tone.

How do ads connect the channels?

This is where retargeting comes in. According to Meta's Business Help Centre, a custom audience lets you build an audience from your own data or from engagement on Meta, and use it for retargeting. Meta describes a few types:

Custom audience type What it uses
Website People who visited your site, matched using the Meta Pixel
Customer list A list of your customers that you upload (Meta hashes it before matching)
Engagement People who interacted with your content on Meta

So someone who browsed your website can later see a reminder on Instagram. For the basics, read what retargeting is and how to start.

What do I need to get right first?

  • One message. The same offer and prices on Instagram, WhatsApp, the website and in store.
  • Tracking. Install the Meta Pixel so your website can feed retargeting audiences.
  • Fast replies. If an ad sends people to WhatsApp, someone has to answer.
  • One look. Same logo, colours and tone everywhere.

Is it only for big brands?

No. A home business with an Instagram page, a WhatsApp number and a simple website can already run a joined-up journey. It's about consistency more than budget.

  • Not quite. Multichannel means being on several channels. Omnichannel means those channels are connected, so the customer doesn't have to start again each time they switch.
