What are UGC ads, and do they work?
UGC means user-generated content: ads shot like an ordinary post — handheld, unpolished, one person talking to the camera. They work because they look like the rest of the feed instead of interrupting it, and because a person recommending something is more believable than a brand claiming it.

Why do they outperform polished ads so often?
| Polished ad | UGC-style ad |
|---|---|
| Recognisable as an ad in half a second | Looks like content |
| Feature-led | Experience-led |
| Expensive to produce | Cheap and fast |
| One version | Many versions, easy to test |
The last row matters most. Because they're cheap, you can make five and let the numbers pick — Meta's help centre describes A/B testing for comparing versions directly, which is where most of the gain actually comes from.
Who makes them?
- Real customers, with permission
- Paid creators producing content in that style
- You or your team, which is free and often works
What are the rules?
If a creator posts it on their own account for payment, Meta describes a paid partnership label that discloses the business partner on branded content. If you want to run their post as your own ad, Meta describes partnership ad permissions granted by the creator — and states these can be revoked at any time. Agree usage in writing first.

A script that sounds like a brochure. If the first line can't be said out loud naturally, rewrite it — see how to write ad copy that sells and what makes a good ad creative.
