Why was my Google Ads account suspended, and how do I get it back?
Google Ads Help says accounts are suspended for billing problems, serious policy violations, or unauthorised account activity, and that all ads stop running until the account is reinstated. To get it back, fix the cause and submit an appeal from the account if you think it was a mistake.

Suspended or cancelled?
These are different, so check which one you have:
- Cancelled: Google Ads Help says accounts that haven't spent in more than 15 months are cancelled automatically. An admin can usually reactivate one for free from Admin, then Preferences, then Account status.
- Suspended: Google stopped the account because of a problem. Read on.
What are the common reasons?
| Type | Examples Google Ads Help lists |
|---|---|
| Billing and payment | Unpaid balance, suspicious payment activity, promotional code abuse, chargeback requests |
| Egregious policy violations | Circumventing systems, coordinated deceptive practices, counterfeit goods, malicious software |
| Other | Unauthorised account activity, repeated policy violations |
Google Ads Help says egregious violations lead to immediate suspension without prior warning.
How do I get it back?
- Read the notice in your account. It names the reason.
- Unpaid balance? Google Ads Help says to pay the overdue invoices right away. To avoid this again, see how Google Ads billing works.
- Think it's a mistake? Submit an appeal from the account. Google may ask you to verify your payment method or recent activity. It says accounts are only reinstated in compelling circumstances, such as a mistake, so be honest and specific.
- Don't open a new account to get around it. Google warns those may be suspended too.
